My contractor's insurance is trying settle for ACV (depreciated) rather than RCV. Aren't I entitled to RCV? Bathroom work resulted in water damage to my hardwood flooring throughout condo due to leaking pipes. Contractor admits full responsibility and their insurance company estimates damage at $10,500 (RCV) but they want to settle for $8400 by including depreciation (ACV). Estimate received by flooring company to repair is $10,200. If I accept insurance company settlement I will have to pay the additional out of pocket. Since this was the contractor's fault and it goes through their insurance, shouldn't I be entitled to full replacement settlement rather than accepting the depreciated selttlement? Since I have no blame in the matter, I believe I should not have to pay anything out of my pocket. I need to know if I can legally tell the insurance company to settle for the RCV.
Can a mortgage company keep money from a homeowners insurance settlement without paying contractor? I work for a contracting company and recently we changed the roof on a house that was damaged by a storm. The insurance company sent a check to pay for the work done on the roof. The check was drawn out to the owner of the house and the mortgage company, the owner told the mortgage company to keep the money from the insurance settlement to pay for his past mortgage payments and now the owner has not paid us (the contractor) and the mortgage company refuses to hand over the proceeds to us (the contractor), when the roof has been completely repaired. Is this legal?

How is Manpower's health insurance plan for temporary or contractor employees? I am considering working for them as a contractor (or temporary) and I am concerned about health insurance as compared to my full-time job. Anyone with experience with this? Mark G.--I don't see the link. Can you email it to me? (Click on my profile to send it to me.) Thanks. Mark G.--I see the link now, but it's very generic. I don't know if I got the whole URL or not. The page I get is a list of links about health insurance, but not about Manpower's health coverage.

General Contractor Insurance Question? What recourse do I have against my general contractor who does not have my office completed in a timely manner. My current lease expired November 1st and I will most likely not be in the new office until January 1st. What obligation do i have to a contractor that I told could do the work on an insurance claim? A contractor pointed out that I have hail damage on my siding, and that my insurance will cover it. He will also negotiate with the insurance adjuster to work out a price for repairs (re-siding my entire house). But, the more I think about it, if the amount that the insurance will provide for the work is signifigant, I may tell the contractor to have a nice day and do the work myself. Using the extra money to buy windows. I just don't know if there is legal issues with doing this?

As an independant contractor (I receive a 1099) can I deduct my heath insurance via COBRA? I'm asking this question because I heard differing opinions. I am an IT independent contractor that receives a 1099 from my employer. We used to get insurance through my wife's company. When we had our first child last year, she quit to stay home with the baby and we went on COBRA through her old company. I heard somewhere that self-employed people can deduct their health insurance, but I heard from others that we couldn't? I just wanted to know if anyone knew for sure? Thanks
What does liability insurance cover for a contractor? If an electrician (or plumber or any other professional) comes to my home and injures himself (in the case of an electrician, he electricutes himself) do I have any liability? Does it matter if he's a licensed professional or not? What if he damages my home - like a ladder falls and breaks a window? When an electrician says he's "insured" does it mean he's covered for damage to my home or damage to himself? Or both? Thanks to all who can provide some answers!

What is the typical price range for an insurance policy fee? My question is primarily directed at Business insurance, Liability,Contractors insurance, etc... Although, any policy fee price range would be appreciated. Thanks. Thank you all for your answers. Let me explain my question. I'm a Safety Engineer, doing a feasibility analysis for my prospective contractor Safety/Loss prevention business. I intend to provide business liability insurers(underwriters) with a risk assessment /loss prevention inspection overview and suggestions,as needed. Particularly, Industrial and construction sites. As well as, property assets including residential (home owners). Here is one of my purposes: I know, first hand, that there is a need for third party inspections. I'm trying to figure a fair price schedule. Like, what is the norm for these services? How feasible is this service to Insurers, I mean by an established safety professional?
