  1. Ummm...talk to a recruiter???
  2. I assume your talking about becoming a civilian contractor for one of the companies that supports the military overseas. You can't. Simple as that. Sending a resume that says you are a good shooter and you've played war games with your friends is like sending a resume that says you've never shot a gun, but you've played Battlefield 2 on the XBOX 360 and you're really good at it. Save yourself the time. Unless you have some other background that supports these types of operations, like Police SWAT or similar.
  3. If you want to be a military contractor, prior military service is nothing short of essential (unless you have years of experience in a tactical police unit). Unless you are interested in cleaning out the bathrooms at a small defence establishment or catering, in which case preference is given to the lowest bidder, you'll almost always need some military experience to get a foot in.
  4. You go out and get a background that will interest one of those companies. They are looking for people who have law enforcement, or certain military specialties.
  5. The military does not "contract" for employees. There are several private security companies in the world that contract with the US to provide support and security services for military, as well as with private employers such as oil companies and other industries based in foreign countries. In some way, the term mercenary accurately describes them. These jobs are extremely dangerous and because of it , well paid. From what I have learned, most of the hires in these companies are ex military or ex law enforcement...they very rarely hire someone with no experience as that posses a huge risk to everyone involved. Your only options for "that sort of work" are military enlistment or possibly law enforcement.
  6. Yea I agree with the above statements. Most of those companies with Military contracts want people with experience. If you go to their websites, you may be able to find a position they are looking to fill such as EMT, Accountant etc... which would not necessarily require Military experience. However if a Military personnel were to apply for that job as well, they will most likely get the job over you. Most of the Military Branches also have civilian positions with specific job titles. You may qualify for one of those jobs as well. However many retired Military usually apply for those jobs because they are the same jobs they were doing while in the Military. As you can see, having Military experience when dealing with any Branch or Government Agency will set you above the rest of the people who have no experience and are straight out of College.
  7. you cant do "security" contracts unless you are prior military.
  8. Your best off either joining the defence force or the reserves. Most contractors overseas employ only ex military so you would need to have served in the military for an extended period of time. If you don't want to join the military then you need to get the names of the security firms which operate in war zones and contact them on how to apply for any positions.
