Can I use a silicone sealer meant for doors and windows in my shower?
I had a tile shower installed about two years ago and the caulk between the floor and walls is starting to deteriorate. The contractor used a gray caulk to match the tiles. I cannot find gray caulk meant for showers anywhere. I did find a gray silicone caulk that is waterproof but says it is meant for doors and windows. Can I use this in my shower since it says it is waterproof? I found the original bottle of caulk the contractor used and it says right on the bottle "not meant for showers".

- use it, just try and be neat about it
- As long as its 100% silicone and not a silicone/ latex mix.. When in dought look to see if its water clean up, if it is then you don t want that type GL
- Home Depot has some colored shower and tub caulk in the section where they sell the tubs and sinks and also where they have the thinset and grout. You have a better selection than the paint dept.
- Use 100% silicone caulk. They now make some that are mold and mildew resistant for wet areas such as showers. Check at Home Centers.
- check with the manufacturer that the silicone is anti-fungicidal. other wise it will go grubby within a few months. might be hard to find one in grey so maybe try calling one of the larger manufacturers in your country to find out if they make one and where they might stock it.
