I am looking for contractors that will frame in a room on a deck.....?
This room would be an all season type of room with lots of windows....possibly ceiling to floor windows....the deck is about 2 1/2 ft off the ground. It is about 12 ft by 12 ft and it has a roof over it from the existing house. I am looking for some privacy but also a view of the street.... thanks for helping......Truesnow from Red Deer Alberta

- Watched any documentary TV lately about contractors who are CROOKS??? Get references... Get their contractor's licence number,,, and tell them you'll get back to them. Call the references...go see the work done by them for these references... Call the Licencing people and make sure these people are the ones who gave you the licence. Dateline showed one couple who got taken sooooooooo bad, by a contractor who was using a Licence number that didn't even belong to him! and then Get their bid...and PAY NOTHING until the job is DONE and you're satisfied...(which means you need to inspect their work before you pay them). and pay with a CHEQUE...not cash...NEVER pay with CASH---and get a WORK-ORDER showing "PAID IN FULL" and a list of the things done...written on it. Good luck Truesnow --from a fellow Canuck in B.C.
- First of all the lady above is mis informed by the media-yes crooks are alive and doing biz as contractors -but these are isolated cases and the same thing happens to people in all biz deals-so if you do not know of a good guy to frame in your deck room-ask the people who you see are having a simular project done if they would recommend their contractor-or look in the yellow pages and then always ask for referrences and if you could see some of the work done by them[not pics]-and you must pay for a job like this in increments---otherwise how does the man survive?-the reason for a down payment is to ensure that between the signing of the contract and the actual day work is to begin -the customer does'nt back out thus leaving contractor stiffed-not only has he lost your job but also jobs he had to turn away because of yours-its tricky but the only companies that will float the whole expence tab are large with plenty of overhead-and will charge triple-and still rip you off in the end-so dont listen to that silly girl -just use your common sense and you'll do fine -hey just act like your looking for a doctor to do surgery on yourself-you'll get a good contractor -ciao!
