  1. There is a US plumbing code, it is the Uniform Plumbing Code, there is also an International Plumbing Code used by many municipalities. An electrical, the National Electrical Code A building, etc. There is no link to the entire code online because they make people buy the code books, however, you can look for the plumbing code specific to what your dad needs, like "Plumbing code for sink vent". Or, add to your question you have just posted with the issues he needs answers for, there are people with the code book or who already know the right answer(s). You can try this: http://www.codecheck.com/ But I do not think it will help alot.
  2. There is no document known as The National Plumbing Code in the US. Codes go by regions of the country. There are the Southern Building Codes, the Uniform Building Codes, the BOCCA Codes, etc depending on where you are in the USA. ICBO (International Conference of Building Officials) has been working for 30 years on combining all codes into one set and very nearly accommplished that under the flag of "Uniform Building Code", "Uniform Plumbing Code", etc. but not quite. Most of the USA has adopted the UBC, UPC, etc as their code by now. With some new twists, ICBO has re-organized as ICC (International Code Conference) and has been working on the "International Building Codes" for the last 5-10 years. What your dad is probably looking for is the code in force at the jobsite that he's working on. Call the Building Dept in that town and ask what plumbing code they are using. They'll tell you something like "UPC, 1995 edition". Now go find that at Amazon books or Google that. If he looking for just an office copy of plumbing codes in general, go to www.icbo.org (which will switch you thru to ICC) and order up a copy of the new International Plumbing Code.
