How long does it take for a contractor to remove lead paint?

our new home is being closed on jan 23 and they found lead paint so we wouldn't be able to move in soon enough so how long would it take.

  1. If you have any extra paint cans around the house there should be a phone number on the lid. When you call this number, they will answer any questions you have about taking care of lead paint issue. Sorry, I dont have any extra cans around the house, maybe another reader will and provide that for you.
  2. It depends upon the extent of the removal and who is doing the work. I obtained certification in safe lead work practices which is required by HUD funded projects. If it is done improperly you run the risk of contaminating the entire home. For guidelines visit the EPA site they have specific recommendations. Please have it tested by an independent company (not the one that removed it) after the work is completed BEFORE moving in. The wipe samples will need to be sent to a lab for analysis and then a report will be issued to the testing agent. Good Luck!
