How much should I pay a painting contractor - interior for new construction?
I live in central east coast of florida and looking for pricing interior paint on a new home that i am building, want to know what the contractors are getting per sf and what are they charging for base board, doors and windows, ect. I am dont want to be ripped off, since I am a women. I want to be educated on this. Please help.

- I would charge $1.50 per square foot. If your house is 1500 sq ft. You can expect to pay $2250 I do not charge extra for baseboards, doors or windows , as it is included in the price. Keep in mind that since this is new construction, there is additional work involved . IE priming bare wood, caulking, filling nail holes etc...Carpenters do not fill their nails-the painter has to. This is labor intensive and you will be charged for it. Learn to do it yourself.
- We normally charge $2.20 per square foot for new construction work. Many contractors charge less but use lower quality primers and paints and do one coat of paint instead of the two coats that are required on new construction. Plus preparation such as sanding and caulking is critical in new construction projects.
