Can the soundwaves generated from a contractor who is sandblasting paint off my walls shatter tempered glass?

Public Comments

  1. No, not unless the glass is already defective
  2. I'd say that it's possible that the energy waves (sound or vibration) from the sandblasting COULD have caused glass to break. I've seen glass with weak spots spontaneously explode, so I know it's possible... whether it was caused by vibrations is another thing. It's possible that, either way, those energy waves could have gotten the glass vibrating at just the right frequency to crack at an up-til-now unknown weak point OR simply at a point where the glass couldn't take the stress anymore. It had vibrated to the maximum curviture it could handle (like a suspension bridge in an earthquake). And as for the comment about tempered glass: it can be treated many different ways... just because it's "tempered" doesn't mean it won't crack/shatter... in cases where it DOES shatter, it just means that the glass won't break into jagged shards that would cut someone.
