What does a licensed contractor (painting) typicall make in the Bay Area annually?
I'm trying to find the average income of a licensed contractor in San Mateo. What is the typical income of a licensed contractor (painting) in the San Mateo area?

- That would really depend on the type and how much work they got. A painting contractor could have dozens of employees working for him. They may only be making $15 per hour but the contractor can charge $30-$50 for their labor. That figures into it that there are the taxes, health insurance, SS, workers comp etc added in. There’s also all the back office work done to maintain bookkeeping, vehicles etc. Don’t forget that the office staff and field supervisors that try to make customers happy and get more work. If you have a lot of work and a lot of workers there could be some decent money. Check out the web site for rough pay scales.
