What do I claim on my taxes? I am an independent contractor?
I sell advertising for a company. However, I am not an employee of the company - I am an independent contractor. What is my business name for the sake of filling out my taxes?

- Unless you are a business with a business license then you don't have a business name. You can file your self employment income on your personal tax return. You will probably fill out a schedule C or SE depending on the complexity. Go to www.irs.gov for more info.
- If you don't have a business name, put your name and address on the schedule C.
- Take the time to review IRS Publication 334. That will give you an idea of what expenses you can claim.
