Home Improvement Contractor - Licensed Contractors

My contractor spilled white paint on my new black roof. He tried to clean with water but it didn't work. HELP!

  1. the contractor must fix it no matter what it was his fault he has insurance for accidents. even if he needs to replace shingles or whatever if he gives you problem call a lawyer
  2. That's HIS problem. He needs to clean it up to it's original condition or replace the damaged shingles. If he doesn't, haul him into court.
  3. If hes a licensed contractor then he will hold a Class 1, 2 or 3 license with your local county office. He will also have a bond (insurance) to cover any costs resulting from accidents like you have described. On a side note...what was he doing with paint on TOP of your roof???
  4. The first question I have for you is, is he a licensed contractor? If he is licensed, bonded, and insured than it shouldn't be a BIG problem except for him being hesitant because his rates will go up and it doesn't look good to file a claim with his insurance company. If he is not licensed than it is probably going to be really tough to get him to pay because he probably does smaller jobs (thats why he isin't licensed) and doesn't have an abundance of money. Either way, if he refuses to pay take him to small claims court. Take lots of pictures and get estimates for the repair work (or have it done if you can afford to) If he was unlicensed check your local state laws because you can probably find something he was doing illegal. In Arizona we have what is called the registrar of contractors who manage contractors and investigate them. Check who does this in your area and see if he has a history of wrong doings. Good luck.
  5. Hope the contractor was not a friend or some you know. Sounds like shingle replacement time to me. The contractor should have already told you what he would do to fix the problem. If not contact him and ask what he is going to do to repair the damaged section of the roof.
