Home Improvement Contractor - Licensed Contractors

can someone tell me how much it costs to make your bedroom windows larger?

i'd like to make the windows in my home longer and wider but i'd like to have an idea what a contractor will charge, i will probably purchase the windows myself so i just need the price for the work.

  1. I'm wondering what your reason is for wanting to install larger windows. Is it because you feel you don't have enough light in your room? There are several ways to address this issue and some questions to ask. 1) Is your window north facing? If so, putting in larger windows may do very little for your lighting issues. Rooms sometimes are inherently dark. Take a look at your space, if it is painted a light color already and still feels dark, there may be little you can do to make it brighter. Instead, go for a warm and cozy feeling. It's making lemonade out of lemons. 2) Placing shutters in the windows as they are now is a clever way to put more light into your space. Horizontal surfaces in a room are the ones which receive the most light, walls are second and ceilings are last. Putting a shutter in a window means that every one of those louvers is a new horizontal surface which actually acts as a reflective plane putting light back into your space which you can actually direct. You can take the local light at your window and send it to the far corners of your room through the adjustment of your louvers...a very great thing indeed. 3) create illusion of a larger window(s) though the use of draperies which extend beyond the window. For example, if your window is 36" wide, get a rod which is 54" wide and place two drapery panels on each side. When you open the draperies, your entire window will be exposed but you will think that you have more window behind the fabric...an optical illusion. Good luck!
