  1. You do understand that mercs are war profiteers? I'm not telling you not to do it, it's your choice... and when one has certain skills that are fairly useless outside war, then merc seems a reasonable choice... but you should at least know the dark side of what you're aspiring to become. As far as becoming one, join the military... and stick with it for a while. I assume you could get connections from there.
  2. Comment: By 'solo' I assume you mean that you don't want to belong to a mercenary group or employer. Being a one-person solo unit means your travel costs etc would be high and you would have a major problem of marketing yourself. Customers may need your services, but how are they to know that you exist? It is the nature of the job, that their need and your existence (for the safety and security of both), should remain clandestine, and this would cause problems for contact and set up of missions between you and any new clients. You need a network. It's a lot easier if you can join an existing mercenary group like Blackwater, your overheads would be less and, at least your back would be covered.
  3. Learning how to spell and utilizing proper grammar is a good start.
  4. It's easier than you think! Applying to be a mercenary is similar to other jobs. You need a resume, experience, and an interview. Search the web for a group that suits you best. I do not know about Canada specifically, but I'm sure they have some groups. I would personally look into Black Water Security. http://blackwatersecurity.com/employment.html It is vital that you have prior military experience. You don't need to be a super solider or special forces, just know your stuff. Of course being a JTF2 soldier can only increase your chances of being hired (I'm assuming you're Canadian). It's definitley an adventurous job. Solo in Canada eh? I don't quite get what you mean. If you mean be the sole man of your contracting business, good luck, people hardly hire single soldiers of fortune nowadays, they look for companies that can send teams. If you plan to begin your own team, then definitley go SF and start taking down contact information of potential employees/business partners. The private sector has its benefits in pay, but it doesn't always guarantee work to earn that pay. How high is the demand for contractors in Canada? Buy some property for target ranges and practice, an office building, get your website up and phone number in the yellow pages. Work hard, and you can start anything you like. Nowadays instead of paying for bodyguard, businesses tend to wait until one of their board members gets kidnapped on a business trip and then pay for a negociator and retrival team. I highly suggest you look into this form of contracting. 5. If a wear your shoes I've prefer stay at the legal side. Like foreign legion , also they paid well and after this service u can find better contracts because they had good reputation
  6. And now for the reality check............ I retired from the Canadian Forces, in 1996, after a 30 year career in the Military Police. There is NO allowance for armed security agents in Canada, except for the small number of armoured car guards who carry a handgun, while on duty. The vast majority of security persons in Canada are NOT armed at all. If you are NOT a sworn Canadian law enforcement officer, or a member of the Canadian Forces, you cannot go about carrying firearms, legally, in Canada. No security company in Canada is allowed to carry firearms, to protect persons, or property, only cash, and then only under very strict rules. The one exception is for hunting, with firearms, , and that can only be done during open seasons, with a proper hunting licence, AND a firearms acquisition certificate, and you must have previously passed the Hunter Safety Course. Un-like the USA, Canada has very strict laws about who can qualify to get a Fire Arms permit, for any rifle or shotgun, and handgun permits are rarely issued to any one here. Furthermore, we don't permit private "mercenary companies " to operate in Canada. Sorry , your idea is not legally possible, in my country. Try somewhere else. Jim B. Toronto.
  7. If you are asking this on yahoo answers, i highly doubt you have any training required, and can only guess as to how successful you would be in this venture.....0% effective, at recruiting or starting this career.
