Concerning the Home Energy Tax Credit, what happens if your contractor will not break out the pricing for you?
I recently had insulation installed in my home. I need the insulation contractor to break out the material from the total bill. They said it is not possible. Do they leagally have to? Why or why not?

- He obviously doesn't want you to know what he charged you for labor to install it. Make an anonimous call to the contractor's office or the supply store and ask how much it would cost for insulation for ??? sq. ft of house.
- I like Bubba's idea. Get a good quote from a home supply store on the materials and use that as your materials. I think if you can get it in writing it would be better for your records.
- I don't know if you can force him to itemize the invoice. I personally would not deal with any contractor that would not agree to an itemized invoice in the contract before any work started. As for their statement that 'it is not possible'. That is false. If they don't know how much they paid for materials, they shouldn't be in business.
