how to be a contractor of a construction business?

im 18 right now im deciding to go into the army or start going to school to be a contractor. i hopefully want to be a contractor by the time im 20-23.. then i want to be well rounded in many things such as plumbing,electrical,and carpentry and so on i want to know a few things so i can start now 1,how do i become a construction contractor or someone that builds homes. 2.how i start my own business roughly in the southern California area. 3.how do i get people to start working with me or for me and is it stress full. 4.and how do i get it to start making money. 5.how much do people that do this sort of business make yearly and will it make me enough so that in my 30's i will be able to sit back and collect money and me and my family will be set. 6.is there so many of these company's that i will not make anything plz and thank for your time and answers

  1. There are so many trades in the contracting field - you'll need to concentrate on the ones that have the most appeal for you. Electrical/acoustical/A/C & heating/plumbing/painting & remodeling/pool & driveway & concrete/sewers or septic tank, etc. You'll need to go to contractors' school to get a license. You'll have to be able to get a "bond" - a form of insurance that will pay your customers if you do it wrong, or don't finish. If you have workers, you'll have to pay their state & federal taxes, and have a bookkeeper do your payroll. Good Contractors can earn up to a 2,000,000 a year easy. I see boot camp in your future.
