Does working an apprentice plumber count as working experience?

I looked at the requirements in Arizona to have a plumbing contractor license,and says it requires 4 years experience,I think the apprenticeship does count but wanted to make sure.I live in Mesa,Arizona,so if anybody knows the rules for this particular state that would be helpful.
