how does a painting contractor estimate cost of materials and labor?

I want to hire a painting sub to paint the interior of my home but I want to nkow first how do they quote the job . thanks

1. They measure the square footage of your walls to determine the quantity of paint they will need. they will determine how long it will take to do the job and submit an estimate. If there is a lot of prep work to do, they should include time & material for that as well. Experienced painter will come very close to their estimate.
2. Years of experience. They can figure just what is needed for any size room.
