Home Improvement Contractor - Licensed Contractors

I am a licensed California general contractor, what do I need to do to be licensed in Texas.?

I am thinking about moving to El Paso texas and would like to continue working as a general contractor over there. What are the requirements of that state. Can I somehow "transfer" my license over by filling out the propper forms and paying the propper fees? I have been licensed for 6 years in California and I would imagine that this state would be one of the more difficult to work in. Any insight for Texas?

  1. A open beer and a gun rack in your pickup truck.
  2. You're in luck. TX does not require a contractors license, except for a few specialty classifications. If you are a CA Class B General Contractor, you can do the same in TX without a contractors license.
