Home Improvement Contractor - Licensed Contractors

Why would an employer hire a new employee vs. hiring an existing contractor?

What would make an employer hire a new employee vs. hiring an existing contractor. Our team has many that have met and exceeded goals and performace. Some contractors have been here for many years and can't get hired. The requirements of the job are equal to that of several contract employees on the team. How would expect this to go over regarding morale?

  1. they can less money to the new employee then they could if they were to hire an exsisiting contractor
  2. If you are performing the exact same duties as an employee, but operating as an outside contractor, and have a company supervisor, company stated hours of work, and a company supplied workplace, you are , by legal definition, an employee. That means that the employer is calling you a "contractor" merely to deny you company benefits, and force you to pay the employer share of SS and medicare. Get an atttorney. You deserve to be paid back all the benefits you have been denied, as well as the SSI contributions, which total 8.5% of your salary.
