Home Improvement Contractor - Licensed Contractors

I was a flooring subcontractor in Louisiana working for the same building contractor for 6 years.?

Two years ago I became deathly ill. I spent the next 18 months in the hospital and I am still in recovery. At the time of my illness, the contractor owed me over ten thousand dollars for work I did on a subdivision he was building. In the last year he has paid me for some of the work but still owes me eight thousand dollars for seven houses I did work on. I have sent him invoices and made many calls to his house and cell but he keeps giving me the run a round. I would have put leins on the houses but I considered him my friend and I was to sick to do anything. Is it to late to put leins on the houses. Can I sue him in small claims for each house. I am now in major debt and I can't afford to pay my bills. I am desperate. Please help me in any way you can. I don't know what to do. Thank you. P.S.- we never had any contracts, just verbal agreements.

  1. no written agreements - sorry. spend ur time and money on finding a new income source. your chances of getting any money is = to a ice cube in hot sauce in august. the money (u don't have) needed to chase this old money will take a long time to go through courts. sorry
