- There are tons of web hosting services, local web designers like the previous guy, etc. Most towns have ads in the paper (check the classifieds), there are the free local computer newspapers (check the racks at the front of the computer store) with ads, and ask around the chamber of commerce. A basic "brochure" type website will come free with a lot of internet services - for example when I signed up for cable internet at home, (Comcast) I got a free website that was pretty easy to set up with a basic layout and a few pages. It wasn't slick and corporate, but if you're just looking for an online business card, it'll work. If you go with a local guy, make sure you understand and get in writing all the ongoing costs, the costs to make minor and major changes, who "owns" the site name (the www.whatever.com should be registered in your name, not his) etc. Also, the key thing I see a lot of businesses miss, is to think of your web site like a pretty receptionist at the front desk - not only does she need to look good, but you also want her to find out who's calling, and get their info so you can be in touch. On the web this is called "lead capture" and the idea is, the prospect hits your website, sees something interesting (like a free consumer awareness booklet 10 things you need to know about roofs) and will give you their name / address so you can send it out and then get in touch about an estimate. etc.... good luck Scott
