Which states do you need a contractors license to install ceramic tile?
I know someone getting ready to start their own company and some general contractors have offered them to work in different states but asked if they had a flooring contractors license in states like West Virginia and Arkansas. In Ohio, where they are based, there is no need for one.

- check with the state's contract license board and/or the attorney general's office of the states that he is planning to do work in.
- When you perform work in a state you have to abide by their laws. Just because you do not need a license in you home state - you ain't in Kansas Toto - it is a whole new ballgame. So you type in "Arkansas State Contractors Board" or whatever and check it out. Local business licenses may also be needed. Everyone wants their share of revenue.
