Is Public liability insurance legally required for self employed people in the construction industry?
I work as a self employed labourer with bricklayers for asub contractor , am I legally required to take out public liability insurance
Public Comments
- if you work for the sub contractor direct, as in he pays your wages and sorts out your tax and ni then you do not need your own public liabilty insurance as your employer sorts that out. if you are self employed and hiring yourself out to the sub contractor then yes you do.
- if you employ others and are responsible for the contracts then yes if you subcontract then the person who you " work for as such" is responsible for the liability insurance, hope this helps x
