Business question for licensed contractors.?

I am beginning the position of secretary for my dad's privately owned contracting business. What can you suggest as good organizational plans? I want to keep everything of importance and file accordingly, but know nothing about this type of business as of yet. What are some things you other contractors find helpful to keep track of and how do you do it?

  1. Good admin on the filing cabinets. Label the folders so anyone can find and use them. Also, label electronic files according to the account/project and date. It will make them easier to find.
