How much do you think it would cost to have someone drywall a 12x12 room?
I would remove the old paneling. I need someone to hang, tape and sand the drywall. Would it be cheaper with a contractor or a handyman? How much do you think it would cost?

- were i live it would cost $1.50 to $1.90 per square foot of drywall. That price includes the drywall, taping, appling a texture and priming
- For a new home drywall contractors in the Modesto California area are getting in the neighborhood of $1.50 per square foot of wall and ceiling area to be covered and that includes the materials, hanging, taping, and texturing. For a small job like yours it would probably be over $2.00 per foot. A handyman would be cheaper if nothing went wrong, but if it did go wrong he wouldn't have a bond or liability insurance. (be careful) Good luck, Bruce
- First you need to figure the square footage of the walls for instance each wall is 10' high that means each wall is 120 sf multiplied by 4 walls that would be 480 sf of wall minus windows and doors plus 10 % for cut off. Then you get the final number lets say 420 sf. . The going rate is about 1.25 to 1.75 per square foot bought hung and plastered or taped. No paint. Get a few quotes the price might be higher than I'm telling you because some contractors can't be bothered with just one room so they may charge a little more. Don't be a shy to ask for referrals. and they may be able to go over the paneling. Hopefully you won't need to replace any trim. Sheet rock comes in as little as 3/8" thick. Good luck Moskie257
