  1. Not likely it would be online. Check the local Code Office for the info. Many areas also have Contractor Associations that could tell you.
  2. The most obvious way would be to ask the contractor to show you the licence.
  3. A licensed contractor MUST CARRY his or her license at all times like a drivers license, you have the right to see it as soon as they knock on your door and any advertising such as in the paper or on their van or truck should have their license number displayed, go on line to your states consumer protection site and all licensed contractors should be there, Good luck Les the painter
  4. This site gives numbers of who to call & check... http://www.contractors-license.org/pa/pa.htm You could also call your local Chamber of COmmerce or the Attorney General's office. Can't find anything online to help you though! Sorry!
  5. Call your city, or county building department and ask them if your prospective contractor is licensed Also ask your contractor for proof of insurance and workers compensation insurance. These items are very important to protect yourself. Contractors are use to being asked about insurance and also for referrals from satisfied customers, If your contractor isn't comfortable with answering your questions about insurance and referrals. I would be very Leary of him. God Bless & good luck Don
  6. I'm not sure if there is a site, but I will say my husband is contractor. If customers want to know if they are licensed they can first call the company he is working under and ask them for the information. They can also ask the contra tor to show proof of their license. I it is a company wanting have contractor to work under them it is required that the contractor show proof of their license, otherwise they can not hire the contractor. If the company hires him/her any way the company can be fined or sued if damage is done or repairs are not complete.
  7. local building inspection office here in WI you can not get a permit if not licensed that is in the city areas out in the rural areas anything goes.
